Tandoor of India | Our Story
Family, food, and heart from India to Rochester
We are two brother families who came together around a shared love of authentic Indian cooking and a belief that good food brings people together. Everything we do — from our hand-stretched naan to our weekly meals at the Open Door Mission — grows from that same root.
Two families, one kitchen tradition
Raj and Simmy Khosa run our Fairport location; Raj's brother Bhupinder Singh and his wife Ninder run Henrietta — two dining rooms, one commitment to doing things the Indian way.
Made by hand, every day
Our naan is stretched and baked fresh — plain, garlic-brushed, stuffed, or folded around chicken and cheese — straight from the tandoor to your table. The same care carries through every curry, biryani, jalfrezi, and tofu dish on our menu.
The tandoor at the center of it all
The clay tandoor oven chars chicken to a deep crimson, blisters naan in seconds, and locks in flavors no flat-top can replicate. It is the heart of our kitchen and the reason guests keep coming back for Chicken Makhani and tandoori chicken.
Giving back is part of our table
Every Thursday, our team brings handcrafted Indian dishes to the Open Door Mission — feeding neighbors who need a warm meal. We also stand alongside the Children's Tumor Foundation in its fight to end NF.
